A
System for Multiple Clocking Points Or Large
Numbers of Employees. With Time &
Attendance and optional Shop Floor Data Capture
and Access Control
Time
and Attendance (T&A). Proteus System
is needed for Time and Attendance applications
where the customer has more than 200 employees
or requires large amounts of clocking points.
Shop
Floor Data Capture (SFDC). If you need
to do SFDC or some form of Job Costing then
you will need Proteus System.
Access
Control. Like T&A if you have large
numbers of employees or need to control more
than eight doors then you will need Proteus
System.
Proteus
System consists of a Controller Box linked
to a string of Clocking or Access Terminals.
Proteus has several software applications
built into it. The primary application is
a Time and Attendance module. Other modules
that are available include Shop Floor Data
Capture (Job Costing) and Access Control.

THE HARDWARE
Controller Box
The Controller Box, which works in real time,
forms the hub of the system. This is the Central
Processing Unit which collects and stores
all of the transactions. Every transaction
is immediately processed and stored to a secure
memory. The Controller Box is in constant
live communication with all of the Clocking
Terminals. So when an employee clocks he receives
an immediate response from the system confirming
their transaction.
System Configurations
The
Controller Box usually sits on your network
as a small server, this allows multi-users
simultaneous access to the system. Remote
sites can also be linked via Modems or over
Wide Area Networks. Each site automatically
downloads its data over night to the Head
Office Controller Box, further downloads can
be manually implemented at any time.
Clocking Terminals
Clocking
Points are wired directly from the Controller
Box in a Daisy Chain or can be connected via
ethernet.
Standard
Clocking Terminals (T&A and SFDC)
The standard Clocking Terminal comes with
a Magnetic Stripe badge reader, an LCD display
and an alpha-numeric keypad. The Magnetic
Swipe reader can be replaced with a Proximity
reader or a Bar Code scanner (useful for SFDC).
With
the Shop Floor Data Capture Module the terminals
can also be linked directly to production
or environment monitoring equipment for various
functions.
Access Control Terminals
Access
terminals are considerably smaller with only
a numeric keypad, a 16 character display and
a Magnetic Stripe badge reader or Proximity
Tag reader.
Their
sole function is for Access Control and Door
Entry. They have a separate power supply and
an output to standard Fail-Safe or Fail-Secure
door release mechanisms.
THE
SOFTWARE
Time And Attendance
T&A
is the primary software module and the foundation
of any Proteus System. It stores all of the
employees personnel records. The rules for
each shift pattern (rounding, grace periods,
lunch-breaks and overtime etc.) are set up
in the T&A module. The system caters for
fixed shifts, rotating shifts, flexi-time
and continental shift patterns. There are
employees holiday calendars and a host of
absentee codes that can be tailored to your
companies requirements. There are also full
editing facilities to enable you to modify
any of the transactions any time after the

Floor Data Capture
The
D.C. module is for Job Costing. It allows
employees to log On and Off jobs or manufacturing
processes. The system can be tailored to extract
a variety of information from the employees
e.g. job numbers, operation numbers, workshop/machine
numbers, quantities produces/scrapped etc.
All of the data can be entered into the system
via the keypads on the clocking terminals
or by scanning Bar Codes. Once the data is
stored there is the facility to edit it at
any time after the event.
The
Data Capture module also allows the clocking
terminals to be connected to either manufacturing
or environment monitoring equipment. Readings
from this equipment are taken at staged intervals.
Again
there is range of standard reports available
with the facility to create even more through
the report generator.

Access
Control
The
Access Control module, in conjunction with
the Access Terminals, provides the means of
controlling who has access to certain areas
of your premises. By using a combination of
security levels and timed zones we can restricted
access to certain doors at certain times of
the day, each day of the week. The module
also allows you to monitor and report on the
movements of a single individual or a specific
door. it is also possible to report on people
who have tried to gain access to areas from
which they are restricted. Further security
is added with the ability to issue each employee
their own PIN number.
An
additional advantage of the Access Control
module is the ability to track someone down.
It is possible to display the last known transaction
of a specific person, thus you can quickly
identify if a person is present and their
approximate location.
